About this project

I wanted to create a platform inspired by a lot of Data Center trackers across the United States, like datacenterwatch.org, Asimov Grid, Data Center Opposition Report, etc., that focus on the common person's fight against basic quality of life being taken from them. But that isn't the only objective of this website. My hope and aim for this platform is to make people aware of a few things: the detrimental effect of each AI data center and why you, personally, should be worried about it; the current ecosystem of AI Data Center infrastructure and the pushback against all of them; and finally, where the latest research across the world is on making this technology sustainable, as well as legislative approaches across the world that we can take inspiration from, or learn lessons from.

Goals

If you've read through any of my blogs (linked in the other tab up there), you might see a theme in my beliefs. I believe that, much like in the last 200 years, where we've seen exponential growth in industry and technology, the same pattern is simply repeating itself at an equally exponential rate of growth in the AI sphere. The race to hold control over the most computing power to control the most data and its regurgitation is a debilitating one that currently only has localized effects.

However, 200 years ago, people had the excuse of not knowing how devastating the poison they released was worldwide, and we don't have that excuse anymore. I believe that this race outpaces its sustainability in leaps and bounds. This race is headed straight towards destroying the planet's ecosystem more than we could ever anticipate, and more than the people up above care about filling their pockets.

This platform is a source of giving you as much information as I possibly can, not just locally around you, but internationally as well, so you can get as deep down this rabbit hole as you want. The objective of this website is to be a repository of journal articles, research papers, public opinions, and anything and everything around the globe relating to AI data centers and the impact they have on the planet. I've tried to make things as digestible as readable as possible, so all the information that's coming to you doesn't feel like inundation.

Not Goals

I do want to talk about what this website is NOT. I believe AI is an incredible tool that, when used right, offers great utility to elevate the daily workflow of regular people, giving them access to tools that would otherwise require years of learning, limited only by their own critical thinking. Of course, the caveat being when used right, I don't agree with the current generation of AI usage replacing humans outright, but this is also NOT a platform for that discussion. I don't want to talk about the socio-economic impact AI has on our general lives since it's an extremely convoluted and lengthy discussion, and I don't want it to take away from what I believe is the more pressing matter.

Help me out!

All this being said, all of this is being made by 1 person, and that's me. While I hope to build this repository to comprehensively show the status of AI data centers across the world, I cannot do this alone. I'm finding as many sources as I can by myself, and corroborating them by myself as well. So, I would greatly appreciate it if you have any sources as well; share them with me in the tab above! And if I got something wrong, or have a referenced article that is displaying incorrect (not outdated) information, drop a text as well! And if you have suggestions on how to improve this website or if you just want to have a conversation about all of this, feel free to drop me a text on LinkedIn.
